I just finished these two novels which detail the adventures of two brothers from New Jersey who found themselves fighting on opposite sides. There are LOTS of battle scenes depicted in these books, and by the time I got to the end, I was as worn out as they were since readers are carried along with these gentlemen from the beginning until the end....well....kinda. The only complaints I have are that Coyle tended to gloss over certain situations that left me wondering "Huh? Wait.....how'd that happen? I need an explanation here!"....not to mention characters dropping off the pages of the books leaving me wondering, "Hey! What happened to so and so????". I didn't care if some of them were minor characters. I wanted to know what happened to them, dammit! The ending wasn't even properly dealt with. And the storytelling lacked something I just can't seem to put my finger on. I don't know if any of the omissions were on purpose because it seems some authors want to play with you, but it left me with a whole lot of questions. Despite this, I still really enjoyed these books and will definitely read them again.
