Nice little piece on some of the upcoming Civil War themed media events that will be taking place over the next few years. Also, if I am reading things right it sounds like Ridley Scott is planning a movie about Gettysburg. I have to say, that sounds like a great idea to me. He did a fine job with movies like Gladiator and Black Hawk Down.

Check out the comments on this piece as well. Didn't expected the slavery issue to come up so quickly but it does. I'm tempted to jump into the debate a bit, but might hold my tongue.

Oh wow.....with Scott involved, we might actually get to see a decent Civil War movie for a change! Dare I hope? I just wish he'd center it around something else besides Gettysburg. That topic seems to have been beaten to death in movies and documentaries.

Apparently, this movie will air during a special week devoted to the Civil War. But yet the History Channel won't abandon shows like American Pickers, etc. for just that one week in favor of new Civil War documentaries. Instead, those shows will run as scheduled but will feature Civil War themes. Rolling Eyes

When dealing with a historical film the point of view shouldn’t make too much of a difference if the history of what happened is being properly displayed. Sadly this seems to be a difficult task for the History Channel these days.

As many of you know we opened up our Facebook Page to thoughts on the Ridley Scott Gettysburg that played on the History Channel on Memorial Day 2011. I think it is safe to say most reenactors were pretty disgusted by this show and would probably rate it as one of the worst Civil War documentaries of all time.

Here is a link to the comments that were posted.
